Thomas Meloncon, a nationally known playwright of long standing, hails from Houston. He graduated from Texas Southern University with a B.A. and M.A. in journalism. He has been an educator in the Houston school system and an associate professor at Texas Southern. His plays deal often with the relationship between black men and black women with a positive twist. Meloncon has written approximately thirty plays and two books of poetry. His most noted play, The Diary of Black Men, had a lengthy off-Broadway run in 1982 and continues to tour the Urban Circuit.
