The seven plays by Sterling Houston in this collection, edited by Sandra Mayo, chronicle what Houston says he knew best, the Eastside of San Antonio, Texas. They highlight Houston’s lifetime and go back over one hundred years to the fight for Texas and the early years of the 19th and 20th century in the Alamo City—including Emily Morgan, “the ‘yello’ rose of Texas” of the Texas revolution and Artemesia Bowden, the pioneering academic leader of St. Philip’s College for over fifty years.
